Chapter 1 / What Is Hacking?
An English reading edition of Toni Angelchovski’s “The Hacker’s Path”.
Before entering the machine heart of the digital world, clear the word “hacker” of misunderstanding. It describes a way of thinking: sharp, curious and free.
Thinking like a hacker
A hacker can repair and rebuild. They look below the surface, understand a system deeply enough to reshape it, recognise weak points and think beyond accepted limits.
The different hats
White hat: works with permission, tests security and reports weaknesses. Black hat: enters without permission to steal, disrupt or destroy. Grey hat: acts outside permission even when claiming helpful intentions; good intentions do not grant authorisation.
Creativity and responsibility
Hacking can mean improving something, finding a door where there seemed to be a wall, or refusing to accept “impossible” without understanding why. It combines logic, intuition and courage.
Knowledge is powerful. Understanding systems matters as much as protecting them. This world welcomes thinking people, beyond programmers alone.
Why I write this
Many people live inside systems they do not understand. This book is an invitation to investigate, learn and understand. Move forward to see what stands behind the system.
